Directions (Boring Black and White for Easy Printing)
One hour and ten minutes from most Baltimore and DC Metro locations
We strongly recommend that you print the MapQuest map, and the "Maps" page in addition to these directions!
Map Quest Map  However, you should be aware that the mapQuest map is *NOT* accurate at fine details.  It frequently references the alleys, which do not have street signs.

Planning on Visiting us - need someplace to eat beforehand - need something to do before heading home after staying over.  Try our Hagerstown Page - details of the Outlet and Antique shopping, good restaurants, battlefields and historical sites of Washington County.

Local Directions and Parking

If there isn't parking on East Ave.

Walking through
If you park near the Trinity Lutheran Church, you are right in back of the house.  You can walk through the Church lot, and down the automobile alley beside the factory. You will emerge on East Ave., one lot down from the house - turn left, and you'll see it.  The alley is quite safe, but use common sense - this is an urban area - if it is late at night and you are alone, it may be better to walk around the block at Potomac St.

If you walk to the house by going around the Locust St. end of the block, you may see some of the slack jawed yokels on doorsteps along Locust, or around the store at the corner of East and Locust.  They're harmless, but they may stare at people in funny clothes.  If that bothers you, walk around the Potomac St. end of the block

Weekend Parking
As you first turn onto Church Street off of Jonathan, you will see two parking lots.

1. On the Right is the Historic Hagerstown Market lot.
This is meter parking Mon-Sat 9-5pm.  You may park there after 5pm.  You may park there on Sunday

2. On the Left is a smaller lot, which is reserved Mon-Fri, but has a sign saying "Free Parking Saturday and Sunday."
You can park there on the Weekend.

3. There is a parking lot next to the Trinity Lutheran Chuch on Randolph St.  Don't Park There.  There is plenty of street parking on Randolph, and you will be towed if you park in the Church lot. You can walk through the Church lot to get to our house.

Driving Tips

If you need a stop enroute, the easiest place to stop is the Sheetz station in Frederick. There is also a rest stop just outside of Hagerstown, but by the time you get there you are only about ten minutes away.

There are frequently speed traps along the section of  I-70 south of Frederick.
There are occasionally traps further north, but the speed limit is 65mph, and they have a somewhat higher tolerance.
