Hours:
Facilities: None, Restaurants nearby
Phone: 301/665-1044 or 1540

First Inner City ***
Address
:
13617 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown MD
Hours: 10-5 M-Sat 10-9 Fri, Closed Sun
Facilities: None, Sheetz nearby
Phone: 301/791-6408
Description: Mostly a flea market, with a few cases of reasonably priced antiques. The prices here are very good, and it's not a bad place to find odd bits of proppage. Prices are very good and there are some cases with watches, billfolds, jewelry etc., but this is a smaller mart, and not a "one stop shopping" location. There is an excellent assortment of modern tools and used but operable power tools at reasonable prices.
Directions:
Take Franklin St. to Burhans Blvd (Rt. 11), Turn right, follow Burhans over a bridge to a dead end with Pennsylvania Ave. Turn Right on Pennsylvania (you will be following Rt 11), and drive until you see a Sheetz on the left. Cross Maugans Ave., and the place is immediately on your Right, in a small brick building with a faded sign that says "Flea Market."

Rocky Ridge **
Address: 14716 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown MD 21742
Hours: M-Sat 10-5, Fri 10-7, Sun 12-5
Facilities: Restroom
Phone: 301/714-4800X
Description: 28,000 Feet, but not very heavily stocked. This place has promise, and you might find a bargain there. There is a lot of modern merchandise (medicines, computer goods, socks, shirts) and a lot of high end "American Kitsch" crafts and furniture. There are a few cases of stuff that might yield props, and a fair number of stalls with interesting odds and ends. Worth visiting if you are going to First Inner City anyway, as it's only about six minutes further. It is very neat and well kept if you have allergies to dust, etc. Prices were on the high side of moderate, to expensive.

Directions:
Take Franklin St. to Burhans Blvd (Rt. 11), Turn right, follow Burhans over a bridge to a dead end with Pennsylvania Ave. Turn Right on Pennsylvania (you will be following Rt 11), and drive past First Inner City (above) and the Hagerstown Airport. The Road will ramble a bit, but there are no major turns. The place is on the Left, and fairly easy to see.

Halfway Antiques & Collectibles ***
Address:
2350 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown MD
Hours: Sun-Wed 11-6, Thur-Fri 10-6, Sat 9-7
Facilities: None
Phone: 301/582-4971
Description:
Mixture of junk, flea Market stuff and antiques, ranging from inexpensive to expensive. There is a lot of nice stuff here, in no particular order. This is the place to get your vinyl, turntable, cassette etc., but expect to pay competative to high prices for tested, working electronics. This place specializes in electronics, but there is a ton of militaria, furniture, and everything else under the sun. It's dusty and dark. Prices high but fair on electronics, antiques, good on most other items.
Directions:
from Franklin St. Turn L on Prospect. Prospect runs down a hill and there is a merge with Virginia Ave. Virginia Ave. Runs through a traffic circle and past the City Park. Not far past the park, the road branches. The left hand fork is wide and obviously well used, the right hand fork is tiny and obviously a side road. Take the left hand fork over a bridge. Pass an "Auto Zone" on the right and cross Halfway Blvd. About a quarter mile along you will see a CarQuest Auto Parts and the Halfway Car Wash. Just past there is a low industrial looking complex called "Pryor Station" which houses Halfway Antiques and Collectibles. Turn into the side street to get into the parking lot. There is also a Holsum Outlet which has cheap snacks.
