Mary
Nemeth
Assistant to the
President for Speechwriting and Policy Advisor
Assistant to the President
for Speechwriting and Policy Advisor
Prior to working for President Kent, Ms. Nemeth worked for Secretary of
Commerce Mickey Kantor as Deputy Chief of Staff and White House Liaison.
From 2000-2004, Nemeth
served as Policy Director and Campaign Speechwriter to James Kent
From 2004-2008, Ms.
Nemeth practiced law at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Stepton &
Johnston, LLP.
Nemeth's career was
heavily promoted by James Kent, and the two have been close. She was one
of a handful of intimates constantly in Kent's prescence during two difficult
Senate races, criss-crossing the state and working late into the night.
It is an ill-kept
secret that the First Lady detests Nemeth, to the extent that Nemeth seldom
travels aboard Air Force One if the First Lady is to be present. There
has been talk she may return to private practice, though the President
clearly values her as a staff member.
Ms. Nemeth received
her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1993 and her B.A. from the University
of Ohio in 1990.
