Office
of Public Liaison
The Office of Public Liaison promotes Presidential priorities through
outreach to concerned constituencies and public interest groups. This
includes planning White House briefings, meetings, and large events with
the President, Vice President, and other White House staff.
In practical terms,
this means that the Public Liaison is very much the President's PR man,
concerned with appearances that enhance the President's image, and make
for good television. This puts the Office of Public Liaison at odds with
the political agenda of the President which is more concerned with his
legislative agenda that with the President's personal appearance.
