Drew O'Brien
Assistant
to the President and Staff Secretary
Before joining the President’s staff, O'Brien was
Co-Managing Partner at Keye, Topper & Clapp, LLP from 2002-2004. From
1999 until 2004, O'Brien was chair of the Ohio Lottery Commission. In
1992, O'Brien became President of the Ohio State Bar, and in 1985 became
the president of the Columbus Bar Association, as well as serving as a
Member-At-Large on the Columbus City Council.
O'Brien received a bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1971 and J.D. in
1975 from DePauw University and upon graduation, clerked for the U.S.
District Judge for Ohio from 1975 to 1979.
O'Brien had a distinguished career as a trial litigator, representing
such clients as Microsoft, Walt Disney Co. and SunGard Data Systems Inc.
Moreover, when O'Brien left Keye, Topper & Clapp it was from the position
of Co-Managing Partner of the firm which had more than 400 lawyers.
Throughout a long career, O'Brien has been committed to public service.
In addition to extensive involvement in the State Bar of Ohio and the
American Bar Association, O'Brien has been an elected official, a statewide
officeholder, and a strong advocate of pro bono work.
